Star Trek and Lego's - An Uncool Combo

Alright, I like Lego. I admit it. I like it more than my kids. When the kids get kits for their birthday's or Christmas, I keep the directions in a file. I also like Star Trek. The evidence is beyond dispute.

However, due to contractual reasons , there are no official Star Trek Lego kits. Ones only hope is to wing-it and try to come up with something on your own. I am creative, but I don't have all the time in the world to design-build-prototype a perfect starship from scratch. I found a website that had plans for minature Star Trek models built cleverly with few pieces.

Even with so few pieces, I still had to work around not having some of the pieces. Plus, I didn't always have the right color and had to had to pull out the ol' Sharpie a few times to modify the Lego color.

Lego Rogue Zoo

My twelve year old son's latest masterpiece. He shot a bunch of Legos one day and edited it together in the computer. He added music and all of the sound efx. I like that there is an actual story in one minute forty seconds. Great job Jack Rhodes (aka Sedohr)

Legos - Yet Another Uncool Hobby

So how have I been amusing myself lately? Legos. Like most kids, mine get these Lego kits for birthdays and holidays, build them, then eventually throw them into the pile. Of course being the packrat that I am, I saved all of the instructions. So now, me and the boys (mostly me), go through the old instructions and try to rebuild the old kits. The big problem is finding the exact piece as pictured in the instructions. What should take an hour or so to build takes a week of digging through boxes all over the house trying to find that one perfect piece in the correct color.

Well... it beats going to the club I suppose!
